Perché è l'occasione rara per esaminare da vicino una tecnica fondatrice ma poco conosciuta: l'autochrome, antenato del brevetto del colore ideato dai fratelli Lumière, spiegato passo dopo passo invece di essere solo accennato. L'incontro con lo sguardo di Marc Ferrez e la collaborazione brasiliana del Sesc São Paulo conferiscono al soggetto una dimensione sensibile e internazionale, lontano da un semplice espositore tecnico.

Tre momenti strutturano la visita: la dimostrazione concreta del processo autochrome dei fratelli Lumière, basata su lastra di vetro e amido di patata; l'immersione sonora progettata in collaborazione con Radio France Studios, che ritrasporta al 1912; e l'esperienza audiovisiva sviluppata con il Sesc São Paulo attorno al fotografo Marc Ferrez. Tutto chiude una trilogia aperta dal radio-trasistore e poi dalla macchina da scrivere.

L'angolo non è la fotografia analogica in generale, ma un oggetto preciso e dimenticato: la lastra autochrome. Macchina posteriore prende parte a rimorchiare la storia delle tecniche da un solo gesto — colorare l'amido di patata per captare il colore — e mostra come un'invenzione industriale dei fratelli Lumière abbia preceduto da quasi un secolo i nostri schermi.
