Built for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, the Petit Palais building, a masterpiece by the architect Charles Girault, became in 1902 the Fine Arts Museum of the City of Paris. It houses a very fine collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture and objets d'art dating from Antiquity until 1914.
